Antique two-tier solid wood table, finely carved – Oriental / Chinese style, late 19th – early 20th century

Elegant coffee table or side table in an Oriental taste, characterized by rich decoration entirely hand-carved. The piece has a rectangular two-tier structure, supported by four turned and shaped legs, embellished with numerous rings and mouldings.

The main feature is the decoration of the two shelves: at the center is depicted an Oriental dragon, a traditional element of Chinese decorative art, surrounded by sinuous motifs, vegetal elements and scrolls. The outer edge of the shelves is also finely carved with repeated ornamental motifs.

The upper shelf presents a particularly elaborate composition, with the dragon set in a rectangular frame and surrounded by decorative motifs. The lower shelf repeats the same subject, creating an interesting coordinated effect.

The workmanship shows notable attention to detail: the dragon's scales, body forms, botanical elements and frames are executed with engravings and reliefs of varying depth. The turned legs complete the elegant and refined appearance of the furniture.

Conditions

The coffee table is in good vintage/antique condition, with normal signs of time and use, consistent with the age of the piece. Visible are scratches, small abrasions, patina variations and slight imperfections in the wood. Small holes visible, attributable to old wood-boring activity, especially in the less exposed parts of the furniture. As with any antique wooden furniture, a preventive anti-termite treatment before domestic use is advisable.
