Villeroy & Boch – Series “The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg” – 6 decorative plates after engravings from the 19th century

Magnificent set of 6 collectible plates by Villeroy & Boch, devoted to the landscapes and architectural heritage of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Created by the prestigious Villeroy & Boch house, each plate features a different central motif, faithfully reproducing with great finesse old views of Luxembourg inspired by 19th century engravings. Castles, fortified towns, rocky reliefs and historical landscapes compose a remarkable series with a patrimonial character.
The monochrome decoration, particularly detailed, is surrounded by a rich ornamental border with floral and architectural motifs, giving the whole a classical and timeless elegance.

The reverse clearly bears the mark:

“Since 1748 – Villeroy & Boch – Former Imperial and Royal Manufacture – Luxembourg”

as well as the designation of the series:

“The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – after old engravings of the 19th century”

The six plates represent six emblematic sites of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg:

Larochette ca. 1857 – after J.-B. Fresez
Esch-sur-Sûre ca. 1857 – after J.-B. Fresez
Echternach ca. 1857 – after J.-B. Fresez
