Fragment of metallic meteorite, ataxite, Gebel Kamil of 4.88 grams set in a branch of silver-colored metal and linked in a modern 925 silver cord-type chain.
It is a meteorite fallen in Egypt during the Holocene (about 5,000 years ago). At impact it produced one of the best-preserved young craters, Gebel Kamil. The bolide was travelling at high speed at the moment of impact against the desert sandstone rock.
It is classified as a metallic meteorite, specifically an ungrouped ataxite with high nickel content. It lacks the classic Widmanstätten structures due to its typology. Its main minerals are Kamacite and Schreibersite.
