Dora Maar - Omaggio a Picasso is a 50 by 40 cm oil painting by Zarina Volkova (XX–XXI), Italy, from the 2020s, original edition, hand-signed, depicting a seated female figure in a cubist style with a fractured face and vibrant colors, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
A painting depicting a female figure seated on an armchair, executed in cubist style with the characteristic simultaneous profile and frontal decomposition of the face, typical of Picasso's period dedicated to the Dora Maar portraits. The face is rendered with blocks of bright color — yellow, green, azure — and eyes rendered with the usual geometric cubist distortion. The figure wears a dress in vivid colors (purple, blue, orange) with geometric patterns, and is seated on a director-style chair with an X-frame, her hands with slender fingers and lacquered nails resting on the armrests. In the background, a wall with vertical stripes and a window with a rolling shutter complete the setting. The work clearly echoes the style and composition of Picasso's famous cubist portraits depicting Dora Maar seated in an armchair, with particular reference to the decomposition of the face, the color palette, and the geometric rendering of the hands.
