Mart Signed (XX) - VANDAL FOR LOVE (Cupid and Psyche)

Technique: Spray stencil on reclaimed street materials, selected to preserve the identity and authenticity of street art language.

This piece is made on a fine OPC panel recovered from the street. Its slight warping is an authentic sign of the material’s urban life, testifying to the artist’s identity. The panel is a very strong and durable material, so it does not require protection. The work is shipped by the artist as-is, equipped with a back hook and ready to be hung flush to the wall. Alternatively, purely for aesthetic taste, the buyer may decide – entirely at their own expense – to have a boxed wooden mounting made. This is a very common solution for this type of work, appreciated by both collectors and the artist himself, ideal for giving the panel a splendid visual and volumetric impact on the wall.

Broken Wall

Broken Wall arises from Mart Signed’s exploration of the relationship between street art, material, and urban memory.

The project brings into homes, galleries and private collections a fragment of the language of the street, transforming a surface marked by time into a contemporary work of art.

The wall is not merely the support for the image, but becomes an integral part of the work.

Its surface, the ruptures, the traces of time, and the natural characteristics of the material preserve the link with the urban context from which street art originates.

The fracture thus becomes an element of the artistic language: the boundary between street and exhibition space is broken and the urban fragment finds a new place.

The artwork

The stencil is created directly on the support: this is not a print or reproduction.

The work depicted in the photographs is exactly the one that will be received by the collector.

Materials and authenticity

Materials recovered from the street are chosen to maintain the living connection with the original language of street art.

Marks, abrasions, surface variations, irregularities and natural imperfections are not defects, but elements belonging to the material’s history and the work’s identity.

These characteristics are deliberately preserved and integrated into the creative process.

The work is signed, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist, and delivered ready to be hung.

The frame is not included, unless otherwise indicated for the specific piece.

Mart Signed is an Italian street artist active internationally.

His works are part of private collections in numerous countries, and his artistic research revolves around the concept “Where Are You Street Art?”: bringing the language and material of the street into homes, galleries, private collections and spaces traditionally distant from the urban context.

Over the years, Mart Signed has developed his international presence through collaborations and relationships with various art-world entities.

His research connects street art, urban memory, recovered materials, and the transformation of space.

In 2023, Mart Signed also participated in a documentary focusing on Banksy and street art culture.

Broken Wall comprises a limited series of 20 unique works.

The 20 works share the same artistic project and the same conceptual core, but each preserves its own physical and visual identity.

They are therefore not 20 copies or reproductions of the same work, but 20 unique and distinct pieces, all part of the Broken Wall series.
