This wood-fired sake set is crafted by a renowned Bizen ware artist. Bizen ware—one of Japan's six ancient kiln traditions—is unglazed; its distinctive appearance arises from natural kiln effects created by wood ash settling on the piece and the action of the flames during firing.
The *tokkuri* (sake flask) features a full, rounded, goose-egg-shaped body with a short, constricted neck and a small, flared rim. The clay body is rugged and textured from the manual wheel-throwing process. Its coloration transitions from deep brown to a rich reddish-brown, accented by dark brown fire marks and golden-yellow kiln spots formed by natural ash deposits. Every texture and pattern is a unique, spontaneous result of the wood-firing process, exuding an air of rustic, substantial elegance.
The set includes two *choko* (sake cups) that are sturdy in form, featuring rims that flare slightly outward and bodies that retain visible wheel-thrown striations.
