Description from the seller
Large & heavy French Art Deco modernist wall crucifix
Description
A beautiful, monumental and exceptionally heavy French Art Deco wall crucifix from circa 1930.
With an impressive height of 46 cm, this piece belongs to the much rarer large variants of this specific model. Unlike lighter, hollow, or later reproductions, this crucifix is of excellent, solid quality and weighs no less than 1345 grams.
This substantial weight is the ultimate hallmark of high-quality and authentic casting from that period.
The design perfectly reflects the pure geometric and modernist aesthetics of the 1930s. It features beautifully stepped, architectural forms on the cross, which elegantly contrast with the stylized rays behind the corpus of Christ.
It is crafted from a striking two-tone metal combination of patinated bronze and brass, which provides wonderful depth and visual contrast.
The crucifix is in excellent vintage condition with the authentic, rich patina fully intact, beautifully emphasizing its age and historical character.
The reverse side shows a clear, coarse hammered texture straight from the original mold. The piece is ready to hang directly via the integrated hanging eye at the top.
Object: Wall crucifix / Altar cross

Period: Circa 1930
Country of origin: France
Material: Solid two-tone bronze and brass
Height: 46 cm
Width: 24 cm

An exceptional and very solid collector's item that makes a powerful decorative statement in both classical collections and eclectic modern interiors.
