Description from the seller

Ancient alabaster sculptural group dating to the Second Empire (Napoleon III) in the late nineteenth century.

The work shows two finely draped figures in a tender gesture positioned on a rocky base.

The adult female figure serves as the visual and structural focal point, while the girl rests against her right side, creating a sinuous line that guides the viewer's eye from bottom to top.

The principal figure wears a classical-inspired tunic (chiton) tight under the bust, while with her left hand she lifts the hem of the skirt in a graceful gesture, revealing the advancing left foot.

The face is idealized with symmetric and serene features, framed by hair gathered with a ribbon at the back of the head.

The secondary figure is captured in a dynamic pose, in affectionate abandonment toward the maternal figure, and is partially draped by a thin mantle.

Conditions: Excellent condition.

Provenance: France, 19th century.

Measurements: 30 x 30 x 70 cm (H 70 cm).

Document: Certificate of Authenticity.

Assistance: We are at your disposal for further clarifications or particular photographs.

Shipping: Throughout Italy, Europe and the Rest of the World at very affordable prices, with maximum security and traceability. The shipment will be arranged privately and will not be expensive.

Have a good day.
