The landscape-oriented sheet shows four portraits of the Monaco princely family, overlaid by an expressively placed red cross – a direct reference to Lorieux's Pop Art influences, which he developed in personal exchanges with Andy Warhol. The fusion of photography, painting, and collage is typical of Lorieux's painterly work.\n\nThe subject is historically charged: Lorieux had a documented personal connection to the House of Monaco – he exhibited at Forum Grimaldi and photographed members of the family over the course of his career. In 1997 he was named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, and in 2003 he received the Légion d'honneur from Jacques Chirac.
