A large-format hand-colored map from the period, and 31 plates hors texte, all with original tissue guards, taken from biblical paintings by Raphael, Poussin, Lebrun, Rubens, Van Dyck, Rembrandt, Murillo, Gros, Vernet, etc. Some sheets browned. The text is preceded by the essay "De l'authenticité des livres de l'Ancien Testament" by J.B.C. Chaud, by a chronology and by the index of Hebrew, Chaldean, etc., names.
