Saddle blanket - Navajo - U.S.

The Navajo (themselves: Diné) are the second-largest Native American tribe in the USA and primarily inhabit a large reservation in the border area of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. Their name derives from Spanish, while they call themselves “the people.” They are known for their complex language, which during World War II served as an indecipherable code for secret messages, as well as for their traditional culture, which focuses on agriculture, livestock (especially sheep), craftsmanship (silver jewelry, weaving), and spirituality.

An older saddle blanket is offered, made around 1920 by the Navajo Nation in North America. The blanket is about 51 cm high and about 55 cm wide.
