Expressive, large-format sacred painting (oil on canvas) of high painterly and sacred intimacy. The composition shows the Mother of God with the Child Jesus in a classical master-tradition, housed within an oval image cut.
Artistic execution: Fine, academic refinement of the figures. The softness of the facial features and the nuanced skin tones give the work a dignified radiance. The ensemble is striking for the characteristic interplay of the deep blue garment with the vivid red mantle.
