This fine object comes from the Crown Jewels series by Rob Scholte (born 1958, Amsterdam), in 2007.

Among others, it has been shown at Galerie Jaski, Galerie Animaux, Zerbrechliche Schönheit, Glas im Blick der Kunst at Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf.

Crown Jewels is also derived from the English "Family jewels". In Dutch, "Ballen".

Marbles are, together with Scholte, our first encounter with money. With marbles we traded (cried), profit and loss, we learned the system of value and financial deceit.

On the back of this 39 x 39 cm work, Scholte engraved the title, the number, year, and signature."
