Guglielmo Welters (1913-2003) - Capri, i Faraglioni

Scenographic, sunny, and beautiful oil painting on canvas, Italian school and dating from the 1960s-1970s.

The painting, depicting a classic view of the Faraglioni of Capri, is the work of master Guglielmo Welters, born in Capri in 1913 and died in Bordighera in 2003.
Guglielmo Welters was steered toward painting by his father Willem, his first teacher and a great painter.
Guglielmo exhibited in the family art gallery until in the early thirties he was invited by an official of the Ministry of National Education to teach painting in Rome, where, in 1934, he opened a studio in Via Margutta.
But already the following year the family chose to return to a seaside location in Liguria, first to Rapallo, then to Sanremo.
Guglielmo Welters in 1935 exhibited at the II Quadriennale in Rome and, after the interruption of the war, participated in group shows, painting prizes, and mounted numerous solo exhibitions, including: Galleria Teleuropa, Rome, 1970; Palazzo del Parco, Bordighera, 1972; Casino Municipale, Sanremo, 1975; Galleria Il Salone, Vicenza, 1977.
Willem and Guglielmo Welters, thanks to their famous seascapes and squalls, are considered the most important artists of Sanremo from 1940 to today.
