MATERIALS
- Turquoise: natural matrix, stabilised. The irregular brown-black webbing runs THROUGH the stone rather than sitting on the surface, which is the mark of genuine turquoise rather than dyed imitation. Stabilisation is normal and expected for beads of this size.
- Coral: SPONGE CORAL, colour-enhanced (dyed) to a deep brick red. The characteristic open porous structure is clearly visible in the close-up photographs. This is NOT precious Mediterranean or blood coral and is not offered as such.
- Metal: silver-coloured metal, unmarked and untested. Each bead cap is built up from applied granules and twisted wire in the Balinese tradition, giving a hand-made weight and texture that cast jewellery does not achieve. Very good throughout and ready to wear. Stringing firm on both pieces, all beads present, both clasps working. Both pieces have developed a soft, even patina in the recesses of the silverwork, which is original and has not been polished out.
