Description from the seller
Beautiful antique four-door cabinet – Flemish Renaissance – Belgium, 17th century
This exceptionally beautiful and multifunctional piece of furniture is crafted from high-quality oak.
The front facade is adorned with three hand-carved lion heads on the top frieze. These powerful Renaissance symbols stood for protection and grandeur.
The piece reflects an exceptional level of inlay art. Both on the doors and on the side panels, clean geometric lattice motifs are inlaid. The strong contrast between the warm wood tones and the deep black, ebonised cushion panels gives the piece a dynamic, architectural depth.
Behind these doors lies a sea of storage space, ideal for displaying your most cherished possessions or storing daily essentials.
The wood displays a deep, warm tone and a beautiful natural patina that could only have developed over centuries.
The rear of the cabinet (see detail photo) shows unmistakable features of an authentic 17th-century piece: wide, hand-planed wooden panels with a brilliant historical discoloration and original construction nails. Some restorations have been carried out.
The cabinet is in good and immediately usable antique condition. Here and there are signs of wear inherent to its age, which add extra character to the overall look. The key is also present.
This high-quality piece fits perfectly in a classic antique interior, but it also forms a fantastic, characterful contrast in a sleek, modern design interior.
Due to its size, this item must be collected.
