Description
Refined lot consisting of three decorative plates from the series “The Fairy Tales of Christian Andersen,” made on Fürstenberg porcelain and decorated with the characteristic technique of incision and 24 kt gilt, signed E. Comolla.
The lot includes three different subjects drawn from the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales:
* The Emperor’s Nightingale
* The Little Mermaid
* The Red Shoes
The plates feature an extremely detailed decoration, characterized by elegant engravings on the porcelain surface, ornamental motifs and central figures rendered in 24 kt gilding. The contrast between the glossy surfaces and the incised/matte areas gives great depth to the decoration.
