Very decorative, but also functional Koch accordion. It is a small model with 21 treble button keys (92 rows) and 8 bass buttons (2 rows). The accordion is 28 cm wide, 16 cm high and about 50 cm long when extended, and 29 cm wide in the base position, weighing about 2.7 kg. The color is brown with chrome elements and ivory-colored buttons.
The accordion dates from the 1920s of the last century, and it still plays. There seem to be hardly any defects on this accordion, except that a few corners of the bellows have the metal corner pieces detached (see photo).
The instrument is still playable, which is very remarkable for an instrument that is 100 years old!
This accordion comes from Trossingen, Germany. It was made by the company Andreas Koch. Trossingen was at the time the worldwide center for the production of harmonicas and accordions (where the well-known competitor Hohner also originates). The Koch company was a major producer, but was taken over by Hohner in 1929. After the takeover, the Koch brand name gradually disappeared from this type of instrument.
This accordion is a diatonic push-button accordion (colloquially often called a trekzak). It is an Andreas Koch 2-row Wiener Model (A/D) from around 1928. It is tuned in A and D (see photo of the wood impression).
Not only is this accordion still playable, it is also a very decorative instrument and certainly a conversation piece.
