Description from the seller
Elegant Service for 12 Coffee Spoons in 800 Silver (Era 1944-1968)
Lot description: refined vintage service consisting of 12 espresso/moka coffee spoons in solid 800 silver, complete with its original rigid period case. The inside of the lid, lined with ochre satin fabric, bears the classic wreath crest with the inscription "Argento 800-000", typical of the packaging of mid-20th-century cutlery sets.
The cutlery features a beautiful classic balanced line, enhanced at the upper end of the handle by very fine raised decorative details with motifs of vegetal scrolls.
Coming from a private collection, the items are kept in like-new condition and have NEVER BEEN USED. To guarantee maximum transparency and the best presentation, the spoons have been recently subjected to a light and careful professional polish: the silver appears exceptionally bright and shiny, completely free of scratches, abrasions, or signs of wear. Any minimal and imperceptible traces of patina of time attest to the piece’s authenticity and historical value without affecting its overall brilliance.
Stamping and Historical Dating: the set is an authentic example of Italian silverware from the post‑war period, accurately datable to 1944-1968. On the back of each handle are impressed the original marks required by the Italian regulation of the time: the figure of fineness "800" in plain digits (completely without an oval outline), as required by law before the modern reform. To the left, the identifying mark of the silversmith enclosed in the typical post-war truncated diamond-shaped cartouche (lacking the fasces). The data inside the mark (number and province) are partly faded by time and difficult to read, testimony of use and authenticity of the piece.
The service is structurally and legally prior to the 1968 reform, which subsequently introduced the requirement of an oval around the 800 mark and the emblem of the Italian Republic (the star).
Specifications and dimensions of the set: Quantity: 12 coordinated spoons.
Material: 800/1000 solid silver.
Manufacture: Italian, period piece.
Overall length: 10.8 cm each.
Maximum cup width: 2.4 cm.
Cup thickness/depth: 1.5 cm.
Total weight of the 12 spoons alone: 113 g net (excluding the case).
Included accessories: Original vintage rigid case with satin-lined interior and functional metal clasp.
Conditions: excellent state of preservation. The silver retains a splendid natural luster and brightness, with normal and minimal signs of aging consistent with the period. Structurally perfect, the spoons are free of dents or deformations. The marks on the back have been photographed in macro mode for maximum transparency to collectors.
Visual note: the numerous attached photos are an integral part of the description and clearly show the silver’s brilliance, the actual dimensions, the condition of the case, and the clarity of the original marks. Some images of the lot have been digitally edited to even out the white background and highlight object details, while remaining faithful to the original in every part.
Note on materials and condition: the items are made of silver and may all show a minimal original patina of time.
The items will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracked delivery service.
