Important pedagogical adaptation of the Elements of Euclid, established from the works of the Jesuit Claude-François Milliet Dechalles and the mathematician Jacques Ozanam. Audierne reorganizes and simplifies the demonstrations, adds numerous propositions, practical applications, and a treatise on ratios. The work covers here the twelve books chosen by the author, books VII to IX being deliberately omitted, as explained in the note placed at the beginning of Book XI.

Interesting provenance: ex-præmio of the college of resident pupils of Lyon — “Ex munificentia R. P. Primarii” — assigned on June 4, 1759 to a student whose handwritten name appears to be Jean Durand, under the signature of Father Duplan, Jesuit and prefect of the college. This price label, preserved on the marbled endpaper, provides concrete evidence of the school use of the work in the 18th century.
