Albert Genta, born September 13, 1901 in Paris and presumed missing in 1989, is a French painter renowned for his mastery of the female nude, in which he established himself as one of the most distinctive artists of his time. Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, he developed early a personal, sensitive and bold style, which earned him attention in Parisian salons in the 1920s. In 1941, he exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants a nude titled Femme endormie (Woman Sleeping), confirming his place in the Parisian art scene. His oeuvre, abundant, explores the female body with a vivid palette, strong contrasts and a constant search for expressiveness.
