Danté Alighieri Bust in the Style of Friedrich Goldscheider.
Terracotta sculpture (or dense molded plaster) with a dark patina simulating antique bronze, representing the bust of the Italian poet Dante Alighieri. The model displays the author’s traditional iconography with the aquiline nose and the medieval hood (lucco), bearing the engravings "DAN" and "TES" in relief on the shoulders. At the inner base, it shows an molded/serialized incised number "759" accompanied by the hand-written supplementary number "19".
Shows natural wear on the decorative patina, small superficial flaws and tiny chips on the base exposing the internal material (terracotta), consistent with the piece’s age.
The number 759 engraved on the base directly corresponds to the historical mold catalog of the famous Austrian manufacturer Friedrich Goldscheider (Vienna), whose design for this specific Dante bust was conceived and registered between 1898 and 1900.
