Terroir: Château Lartigue is located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, north of the Médoc. The terroir of this region is made up of gravelly and clay soils, offering natural drainage and excellent aging capacity for wines. This unique terroir gives Saint-Estèphe wines an exceptional power and tannic structure.

Grape varieties: Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a proportion of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Color: An evolved garnet color with tile reflections, typical of wines with several decades of maturation, while maintaining a beautiful coloring intensity.

Nose: The nose is complex, with aromas of candied black fruits, prunes and evolved notes of undergrowth, leather and tobacco. Touches of cedar, licorice and dark chocolate mix with tertiary aromas, revealing the elegance of aging.

Mouth: On the palate, the wine has a robust structure with melted tannins but always present. The flavors of ripe fruits, blackcurrant and black cherry are well integrated with nuances of cocoa, sweet spices and cedar wood. The finish is long, persistent, with a beautiful acidity that balances the richness of the wine.

THE VINTAGE

One of the most prestigious appellations on the left bank of Gironde, and therefore of the Médoc, Saint Estèphe is the northernmost municipal appellation in this area between river and ocean. On just over 1200 ha, the vineyards benefit from alluvial soils dominated by well-draining gravel and oyster marl.

Here only red wines are authorized, based on the region's traditional Bordeaux grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon predominating. In addition to traditional blends, there are also some plots of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

Relatively hilly terrain gives rise to a certain disparity between vintages. All the wines of this appellation are still tight and solid, with excellent aging potential that gives them a lot of roundness.

A name recognized for the high quality of its terroirs, Saint-Estèphe has five grands crus classified in the 1855 classification, including two Second Growths in the prestigious hierarchy.
