Description from the seller
Title: Fragrances and Light on the Coast
This work on canvas of 24x30 cm signed by Alfredo Grimaldi incarnates the vivid essence of the Mediterranean landscape through a chromatically bold palette and a rich, tactile brushstroke.
The composition develops from an elevated perspective that guides the gaze from a lush foreground to the broad sea horizon. At the bottom and on the right edge, a rich vegetation — characterized by vivid red poppies, wildflowers, and generous golden lemons — frames the scene as a natural stage, providing immediate visual and sensory charge.
In the center, the bay with a beach of golden sand encloses a sheet of water a deep cobalt blue, cut by the discreet silhouette of a white sailing boat. On the cliff, traditional coastal architectures with terracotta-tiled roofs and whitewashed walls climb the rocky slope covered with Mediterranean scrub, while in the background the silhouettes of the mountains fade toward the sky.
Grimaldi orchestrates a clear contrast between the cool tones of the sea and the rocks and the warm tones of the flora and the architecture. The plastic brushwork and the pure use of color transform a classic maritime view into a lyrical celebration of light and Neapolitan warmth.
