Impressive pair of sculptures representing two reclining lions arranged symmetrically. The animals, in gilded bronze, display naturalistic modeling, well-defined musculature, and manes richly chiselled. They rest on irregular rocky bronze bases with a very dark brown patina, creating a striking bi-colored contrast.

The composition belongs to the European tradition of animalier sculpture developed in France during the 19th century, showing the influence of models popularized by sculptors such as Antoine-Louis Barye, although without direct attribution.
