AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful and highly distinctive Brutalist stoneware teapot by Danish ceramic artist Tue Poulsen, produced for his own studio, Tue Keramik, Denmark, circa 1960s.

A striking example of Danish studio pottery, characterised by a strongly architectural and sculptural design. The teapot features a cylindrical body with angular shoulders, an elongated spout and an unusual rectangular geometric handle with two circular openings, giving the piece a particularly modern and brutalist appearance.

The stoneware has a richly textured surface in natural sand, ochre, brown and dark earthy tones, with horizontal dark-brown decorative bands around the body and spout. The deliberately rough, tactile finish gives the piece considerable depth and character.

The removable lid is finished with the same earthy decoration and complements the strong geometric form of the vessel.

The underside bears the characteristic “TUE” impressed studio mark.

Tue Poulsen (born 1939) is a Danish ceramicist and designer associated with Scandinavian modern and studio pottery. Alongside his own ceramic production, his designs have also been connected with companies including Torben Ørskov, Domus Danica, Westnofa and Knabstrup.

A particularly decorative and collectible example of 1960s–1970s Danish Modern / Scandinavian Brutalist ceramics, equally suitable as a functional object or as a sculptural interior piece.

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. The photographs form an integral part of the condition description. The natural irregularities, speckling and variations in the surface are characteristic of the handmade stoneware and its glaze.

Dimensions:
Height: 21.5 cm
Width: approx. 27 cm
Depth: 13.5 cm

The piece will be carefully packed and shipped with tracked and insured courier service, both domestically and internationally.
