Description from the seller
This Art Nouveau desk or bedside lamp made of cast brass stands out for its organic and botanical lines typical of the late nineteenth century or early twentieth century. The gooseneck stem, richly adorned with scrolls and sculpted leaf motifs in relief, rests on a stepped rectangular base with scrollwork and textured granulation patterns that ensure excellent stability. The upper section supports a glass shade of great delicacy, taking the form of a tulip or a flared flower in frosted glass. The body of the lampshade features a white opaque geometric quilted pattern that flows toward the edges to blossom into wide, wavy scallops in an intense pink fuchsia or magenta color. The upper brass fixing clip also features finely chiseled classical motifs. This lighting fixture bears no foundry mark or visible glassmaker signature on its surface. The dimensions are: total height 34 cm, base 14.5 cm long by 10.5 cm wide, and the maximum diameter of the glass shade is about 17 cm. The individual weight of the lamp is 1100 g, which also represents the total weight of this lot. The overall condition is very good, with the metal structure and the glass showing no cracks or chips. Only slight signs of normal use and aging are noted, which subtly patinate its surface. For safety reasons and in compliance with regulations, the period electrical system is sold untested and must be checked by the buyer.
