Lantern - Bronze - Ancient processional lantern

An interesting old religious processional lantern, made of gold-colored metal and glass, originally conceived to be carried during religious ceremonies and processions.
The piece features an elegant structure with a strong neo-Gothic influence, especially visible in its elaborate upper part. A wide perforated crown with architectural motifs surrounds the dome, above which rises a second open gallery finally crowned by a Christian cross, giving the whole a striking silhouette inspired by ecclesiastical architecture.
The central body is formed by a wide cylindrical transparent glass, slightly greenish, protected by vertical metal mullions. The entire set is suspended within a large oval, tilting frame, allowing the lantern to maintain its position during movement.
At the bottom, the frame ends in a tubular socket, a characteristic element of processional lanterns and originally intended for mounting on a long rod to be carried during processions and religious ceremonies.
The rich ornamentation of the perforated crown, the cruciform finial, and the combination of metal with the large glass body make the piece an attractive example of historicist religious art and liturgical furniture, probably made between the late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century.
It presents an attractive patina and the usual signs of age and wear on the metal, while preserving its decorative character intact. The glass is well preserved as can be seen in the photographs.
