Original late 20th century pale celadon nephrite jade pendant from China, carved with a chilong in an archaic bi-disk-inspired design.

Chinese pale celadon nephrite jade amulet pendant Chilong -China- 20th Century
On offer is a good carved Chinese pale celadon nephrite jade amulet inspired by the bi-disk shape. It is carved from good quality pale celadon light-green jade, with a crawling chilong or baby dragon. The smooth-bodied chi-dragon has a flat head and split tail that end in volutes. The back side has carved motifs in the Chinese taste. This thick amulet has a light green color and shiny appearance. It is a natural colored copy after a Song Dynasty original in authentic, Archaic style!
Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Also checked with UV light; which indicates a natural color. Provenance: This jade comes from inland China. A Good jade, suitable as an addition to your high-end collection or to present as a gift! Please see test results and pictures.
BI (pronounced “bee”) is a Chinese flattened disk made of jade or stone with a hole in the middle. Bi are found in elite burials since the Neolithic period. They acted as a sky symbol, accompanying the dead into the after world or "sky." Bi disks were used as a form of communication with the heavens. You hold the disk close to your mouth and through the opening you whisper your message. The message then travels faster and the prayers are answered. During one’s life, they were kept or worn as personal accessories (amulet), as a symbol of rank and status.
