Chinese small white jadeite jade scholars taihu rock ornament –China- 20th Century
On offer is a fantastic Chinese white jadeite jade “open work” ornament. This is a perfect small-scale representation of a taihu rock. This jade taihu rock ornament is a small, carved decorative or meditative object shaped to mimic the famous perforated taihu stones from lake Tai, nearby Wuxi, in China. The used jade to perform this ornament is of high quality, it is smooth, greasy and has a superb white color. This small Taihu rock ornament symbolizes sacred mountains, inner void, and harmony with nature in Confusian, Daoist, and Buddhist traditions. An essential “want to have”object for Feng Shui!
Has been identified as jadeite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Also checked with UV light; which indicates a natural color.
