The Last Move

What remains of a work when there is no one left to inhabit it?

The spectator immediately recognizes Diego Velázquez's Las Meninas. Their gaze instinctively searches for the figures. Yet they are no longer there.

They feel a void.

And it is precisely this absence that becomes the true subject of the work.

The moving boxes are not mere moving cartons. They become the transport crates of our collective memory. The Fragile labels, the inscriptions, the wrappings evoke a time when even our heritage seems portable, storable, or forgettable like an ordinary object.

We protect objects more than the memories they contain.

By erasing the characters, the work reveals what was until then invisible: absence. An absence that speaks as much of Velázquez as of our era, where images flash by faster than they imprint themselves on our memory.

For it is not the artworks that disappear first.

It is the gazes we cast upon them.

Teejo is a French contemporary artist. He modernizes old works by great masters by reinventing them with his own vision. He wishes to make (re)discover to the whole world old paintings by great masters sometimes forgotten over time. His passion for classical art has allowed him to develop his talent. He has also created new original works combining poetry, satire, prevention, and imagination, conveying many messages through his creations. These works are sold around the world.

He creates his pieces using digital tools like Photoshop and enjoys mixing and revisiting techniques to obtain the best result. He is also the designer of the "perceptual duality," a graphic innovation filed with the National Institute of Industrial Property, allowing multiple images in a single canvas thanks to color glasses.
