Description from the seller
Magnificent covered sugar bowl from the Ottoman era in solid silver.
Elegant Ottoman solid silver sugar bowl, with a faceted form (close to octagonal) featuring a bulbous body and a hexagonal-edged lid.
It is adorned with a beautiful engraved (chiseled) design of floral motifs, leaf garlands and scrolls typical of Ottoman style. Two small side handles in the shape of loops facilitate handling.
The lid is topped with a decorative finial in the form of a stylized fruit (or flower) resting on a bed of leaves, very characteristic of 19th-century Ottoman metalwork.
Highlights:
- Solid silver
- Authentic style of the Ottoman Empire
- Fine and elegant engraved decor (flowers, foliage, garlands)
- Rare and harmonious shape
- Patina of use that gives it authentic charm
- Perfect for a collection of Oriental decorative arts, an Oriental tea/coffee service, or as a refined decorative object
Condition: Good overall used condition, with traces and patina normal for an object of this age.
Note: the floral knob on the lid no longer stays in place and can no longer be screwed on (it is detached).
Rare decorative piece, ideal for enthusiasts of Ottoman art and antique objects.
