Marco Santini (XX-XXI) - Momento di intimità allo specchio

A moment of everyday femininity captured with grace and naturalness: a young woman, wrapped in a soft white towel and with her hair gathered in a turban, prepares herself in front of the bathroom mirror as she applies lipstick in a gesture of light vanity. The view from the shoulders, with the figure also captured in the mirror’s reflection, creates a double point of observation that enriches the composition with narrative depth.

The setting, an elegant bathroom in warm and neutral tones, is rendered with great descriptive care: lacquered furniture with gilded handles, the brass faucet, bottles of scented essences, and two vases of roses framing the scene—together they contribute to building an atmosphere of quiet domestic refinement.

The brushwork is soft and well calibrated across tonal transitions, conveying the ambient diffuse light with ease, while the gentle pose and the raised foot balanced in midair infuse the scene with a sense of grace and almost dancing lightness.
