Description from the seller
A portrait of a woman of great delicacy, with a Pre-Raphaelite sensibility: a young woman, captured in three-quarter view with a contemplative gaze directed away from the observer, wearing a voluminous crown of variegated flowers — pink roses, blue cornflowers, and yellow buds — woven among her soft coppery locks gathered. The dreamy expression and the long, sinuous neck give the figure an aura of innocence and romance from another era.
The precious coral necklace and the refined drop earrings in gold and hard stones add a touch of elegance to the bare décolletage, framed by the white lace ruching of the peach-and-sky blue dress. The neutral, softly blurred background, free of distracting elements, concentrates attention entirely on the face and on the ornamental details.
The painting technique, of great execution finesse, stands out for the soft, luminous rendering of the skin and for the almost miniature-like care devoted to the crown’s flowers and jewelry, in a compositional balance of refined grace.
