Ritratto in abito rinascimentale, a 40 x 30 cm oil painting from Italy in a classical style, original edition, hand-signed by Vincenzo Colonna (XX-XXI), period 2020+.
Description from the seller
A Renaissance-inspired portrait, with intense, theatrical charm: a young woman with long dark, wavy hair, adorned with a red rose and a white flower, wears a sumptuous period dress in emerald green, gold and red tones, embellished with embroidery and a blue shawl draped over the shoulders. The gesture of the hand brushing a lock of hair, together with the direct, proud gaze, gives the figure an aura of nobility and confidence.
The precious earrings and the necklace in green stones, rendered with precise points of light, dialogue with the rich decoration of the bodice, while the background, a hilly landscape wrapped in golden sunset light, creates an atmospheric counterpoint that softens the theatricality of the figure in the foreground.
The painting technique, of academic and classical taste, combines precision in rendering the flesh tones and ornamental details with a freer, more blended brushwork in the background landscape, in a visually strong historical-evoking compositional balance.
The work is signed at bottom left "V. Colonna".
