Tolkien (Export Edition) - The Silmarillion - 1977

This is a very rare 1st Edition copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s; “The Silmarillion". This is the true First Edition (often called the Export Edition) and it was produced before the copies intended for UK distribution. The "Export Edition" is denoted by several issues, including the un-priced Dust Jacket and William Clowes as the printer. This copy is regarded as the 2nd State and is an extremely rare variant, with some (but not all) errors corrected from the 1st State. The Silmarillion stories intertwine with Tolkien's most famous works; "The Lord Of The Rings" and "The Hobbit", and this title has become one of his most loved and collectable. This copy is possibly unread and it remains in Fine condition and includes the folding map at the rear and the original dust jacket. It displays beautifully on a shelf and would make an excellent addition to any decorative library or private collection.
