AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare, very beautiful and particularly decorative antique piece in fine glazed earthenware. It is a vase with a lid, or covered pot, 31 cm high in fine polychrome glazed earthenware from the prestigious Keralux production line of the famous Belgian manufactory Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, Belgium. The form and decoration allow us to place this piece in the 1950s-60s.

Details of the object:

The piece presents an octagonal, beveled shape, resting on an elegant foot and an octagonal base. The body is fully enhanced by a rich polychrome floral motif, composed of roses, meadow flowers and foliage in shades of pink, red, yellow, blue and green on an ivory background. The lid, with a pyramidal, beveled form, repeats the same floral decor and is outlined by a fine gilded border. It is topped with a remarkable carved and wholly gold bird-shaped finial, giving the whole a particularly original and refined character. The gilded borders outlining the different parts of the piece are still clearly present. The décor, very colorful and lush, testifies to Boch Frères Keramis’s decorative taste for elaborate floral compositions. The entire piece bears the famous and sumptuous printed decoration “Fleurs de Saxe” (Saxony Flowers), a classic polychrome pattern inspired by Meissen, the famous German porcelain.

The ensemble is richly adorned with polychrome floral bouquets in vivid colors: pink, red and yellow roses, blue flowers, irises, small wildflowers and green foliage. The bouquets are harmoniously distributed over the entire surface, accompanied by clusters of blue forget-me-nots, violet anemones, and fine foliage, standing out against an elegant ivory background. The printed decor “Fleurs de Saxe” is highly regarded in European decorative arts; it is one of the emblematic floral patterns produced by Boch Frères during the Keralux period.

The base bears the mark of the manufacture “Boch Frères – Keramis – Belgium,” accompanied by the letter H, as well as the embossed reference “57/3.”

This is a magnificent piece with a strong decorative presence, particularly interesting as it would suit both a classic interior and vintage or eclectic décor.

Photo 6 will allow you to envision this stunning lid vase in an interior; it is primarily a display vase, but can also be used daily. It will immediately draw the eye and elevate your space with elegance and presence.
