Gold ripples with warm brass, but beneath the luminous crust emerges a dusty blue, almost turquoise, that shines through like a second layer forgotten beneath the first. It is a background that seems eroded more than painted — bright on the surface, revealed in depth, where the coolness of the blue resists the prevailing heat. The pink flowers, small and numerous, gather in a broad central band, almost horizontal, without a true apex: round, soft petals that seem more fallen than sprouting, scattered on the gold like shells on a sunburnt beach. No stem supports them: they remain there, laid on the surface, waiting to be covered again.
