Joost van den Vondel - Treurspelen - 1636

Joost van den Vondel - convolution of 17 tragedies - bound in blind-stamped, calf leather panel binding (in Cambridge style), with the front cover decorated by a frame with fleurons at the corners and a darker, inlaid leather centre panel. The spine has five raised bands and gold-stamped compartments with a red leather title shield.

Good. Some gouges on the binding, slight leather loss at the head of the spine. Left hinge at the bottom open to the first rib, right hinge open/brooch. A few lines written on the first flyleaf that is coming loose, penciled note on the flyleaf. Inner hinge somewhat open - book block fixed in the binding. Hole from the margin on three leaves, tear, 1 cm in the margin on three leaves, Written line on verso of two title pages
