Nicole Lubbers - Mythical Creature

Nicole Lubbers is a Dutch visual artist from the eastern part of the country. Her work is characterized by an innovative and idiosyncratic approach to abstract art, in which painting, relief, and sculptural elements come together. With rich colors, layered textures, and a variety of materials, she creates powerful works around themes such as resilience, movement, strength, and transformation.

Her international career has developed strongly in recent years. Lubbers was crowned Artist of the Year 2024 at the Belgrade Biennale, received the Institutional Award of the Municipality of Montecosaro, and placed second at the World Art Awards as Most Innovative Artist 2024. Additionally, she was listed among the world’s 100 best female artists and recognized as a Master in Art.

Internationally, her work has been shown and is planned for exhibitions in cities including New York, Venice, Florence, Belgrade, Belgium, China and Montecosaro, alongside exhibitions in Dutch galleries.

A particular highlight is Beyond the Surface, a solo exhibition on Times Square in New York. In addition, Nicole, together with artist Michael Lam, presents the exhibition Harmony in Motion: Two Artists, One Vision. Here Lam's flowing Single Stroke Painting meets Lubbers’ expressive, layered structures. The color purple forms the connecting line between two different artistic languages and symbolizes creativity, spirituality and transformation.

The work of Nicole Lubbers is more than decoration. Her compositions invite reflection on perseverance, growth and overcoming challenges. Each work provides a powerful and tangible statement that endows a space with character, energy, and individuality.

Beyond her work as a visual artist, Nicole Lubbers is also known as a puppet maker. Her artworks are delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
