Description from the seller
An exceptional piece of its kind: hand-blown into crystal-clear, beautifully cobalt blue glass, distinguished by four elegant bands with an opaque white decoration applied using frit technique, evenly distributed across the surface.
The beautifully balanced baluster silhouette, the lightly tapered neck, and the softly brushed rim together form a refined object with a timeless mid-century modern aesthetic. The remarkable clarity of the cobalt glass enhances the sense of depth, making the white decoration appear to float within the glass and giving the piece a radiant, almost weightless look.
Made using traditional hot-glass working techniques; the white frit was added while the glass was still molten, so it is fully integrated into the surface during the shaping of the vase. The rim is carefully finished by hand and fire-polished, while the foot is left deliberately cold-worked, reflecting the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of premium European art glass.
The exceptional color, elegant proportions, and distinctive decoration technique make this a striking and collectible example of vintage mid-century art glass.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition. No broken pieces, cracks, or repairs. There is one minuscule surface scratch, visible only upon close inspection. Because it is concealed within one of the white areas, it does not detract from the beautiful appearance. Minimal wear to the foot is in keeping with age and careful use.
