Description from the seller
Second Nature
MiLo (1976), Netherlands
Second Nature is a richly layered abstract composition in which bold black gestures, earthy terracotta, warm ochre and off-white collide across the canvas. Fragmented shapes and roughly drawn structures suggest masks, figures, objects or signs, yet continually resist becoming fully recognisable.
Scratched lines, exposed layers and deliberately raw passages give the work an archaeological quality, as though different images have accumulated and partially disappeared over time. The result is energetic and instinctive, balancing graphic strength with a weathered, tactile surface.
The painting is executed in acrylic on cotton canvas and will be shipped carefully rolled in a sturdy protective tube.
