Description from the seller

Mira II

MiLo (1976), Netherlands.

Mira II presents a fragmented female figure constructed through overlapping planes, sweeping contours and deliberately disrupted anatomy. A restrained palette of terracotta, muted olive, bone, grey and deep black gives the composition an earthy, weathered character.

The figure emerges gradually from the surrounding field: enlarged eyes, abbreviated facial features and circular details appear between broad gestures and intersecting forms. Areas of paint have been brushed, scraped back and worked over repeatedly, allowing earlier layers and traces of the process to remain visible. Fine scratched and etched lines contrast with the heavier painted marks and reinforce the raw, tactile quality of the surface.

Rather than separating figure and background, MiLo allows both to merge into a single restless composition. Recognisable elements appear, disappear and re-form as the eye moves across the canvas.
