Alonso Cuesta - Aguas de libertad - XXL

Rodrigo Alonso Cuesta (Burgos, 1982). Resides in Spain.

This graduate in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Salamanca and in Audiovisual Communication from the Universidad de Burgos has had an outstanding academic background, complemented by experiences abroad thanks to Erasmus scholarships he carried out in Portugal and Belgium.

His artistic activity focuses mainly on oil painting, acrylic, watercolor, digital art and paper, where he creates paintings, drawings and collages. His style is characterized by a rich, vivid and expressive color range, as well as a plastic compositional style with dynamic and unusual perspectives, influenced by his passion for analog photography.

The themes he tackles in his works are “landscapes, still lifes and portraits…that’s all,” following the famous phrase of David Hockney. Although his work starts from figurative representation, he has recently begun to experiment with geometric abstraction, always in large and expansive formats.

This artist has exhibited in numerous national shows, with a special focus on northern Spain. For over 20 years, he has presented his work in various towns, such as Burgos, Teruel, Vitoria and Salamanca, where his work is especially recognized. In addition, he has won painting prizes at both national and international levels, which demonstrates his talent and recognition in the art world.

Recently he won the prize at the III Motril Art Competition. 2024.

Besides his presence in exhibitions, his works are part of multiple private collections around the world. This shows that his work is appreciated not only by the general public but also by collectors and art lovers who value his unique style and technical ability.
