Description from the seller
Night Ledger
MiLo (1976), Netherlands.
This large abstract work is built around a deep, near-black field, subtly modulated by traces of dark green, blue and earthy tones. Across the composition runs a rhythmic sequence of pale, irregular marks, scratched and etched into the painted surface. Their repetition creates a loose horizontal trajectory, reminiscent of an abstract notation, fragmented script or an unknown system of marks moving through the darkness.
The darker areas contain restrained surface texture and small irregularities that become more apparent at close range. Rather than relying on pronounced relief, the painting gains depth through the contrast between the subdued, layered background and the lighter incised marks.
The deliberately limited palette gives the work a quiet, architectural presence, while the imperfect rhythm of the scratched lines introduces a distinctly handmade and tactile quality. Its large scale allows the composition to work particularly well in spacious, contemporary interiors.
About the Artist
MiLo (1976) is a Dutch contemporary artist based in Amsterdam. His work explores abstraction through layered acrylic paint, scratched and etched lines, raw gestures and tactile surfaces. His paintings often balance restrained compositions with deliberately imperfect marks, allowing texture, rhythm and material to become central elements of the image.
Original work is 145 x 110 cm but i suggest framing it at 135 height. 145 is still possible.
