PRECISE MEASUREMENTS
HEIGHT OF VASES 21 cm
HEIGHT OF CERAMIC 18 cm
LENGTH of the ceramic piece only 22 cm
Depicts a gallant scene of seventeenth-century courting on a divan in Louis XV style. The lady wears a refined dress with delicate brush-painted floral motifs, while the gentleman holds a cage for birds. The base, worked with Rocaille motifs (baroque scrolls), serves as a stand for the figurative group.
Pair of side vases: amphora-shaped vases decorated with hand-painted medallions showing mythological and mytho-romantic scenes (including Cupid/Cherubs and pastoral figures). The handles are entirely molded in the shape of winged figures or mermaids/angels, fully modeled with gold details and pink and yellow shading.
Aesthetic details: Extensive use of gilt details (or gold leaf) brushed along the edges, on the grooves, and on the reliefs.
Every detail (from faces to finger modeling, down to the miniature paintings on the medallions) requires sculptural and ceramic painting skill of the highest level.
2. Use of precious materials: soft-paste or hard-pine porcelain of quality and applications of lustres and gilt-bronze gold finishes.
3. Complete composition (Triptych): Finding a complete set in intact condition (without chipping on fingers, angel wings, or vase rims) greatly increases value compared to individual pieces sold separately.
The set passed from the Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea and later to that of Capodimonte.
Gilded gold has been bronzed with agate stone.
