The Count of Monte Cristo – Complete in 3 volumes (Vols 1-2, Vols 3-4, Vols 5-6).
The Lady of Monsoreau – 1 volume (First part of the famous Valois Trilogy).
The Forty-Five – 1 volume (Direct sequel to The Lady of Monsoreau).
Characteristics & Condition:
Publisher: Edited by Calmann-Lévy (or Michel Lévy Frères), late 19th/early 20th century editions (circa 1880-1910).
Binding: Uniform antique half-bindings in burgundy/prune half-leather (half-chagrin or half-basane). The spines are plain with inlaid compartments, borders and gilded ornaments. Title and volume numbers gilded. A very beautiful visual harmony on a shelf.
General condition: Good overall conservation. The bindings are solid with slight signs of wear at the heads, corners and spine ends (see photos). The interiors are clean, pages well secured.
A classic and very elegant set, perfect to dress a collector’s library.
