LAURA MUOLO - Preludio 6

Laura Muolo, born in 1975, a Milan native by birth and a Rimini transplant by choice. She began engaging with art as a self-taught artist in 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she immediately sought the realism of faces, later turning to other media such as pastel and painting.

She participates in numerous group exhibitions both in Italy and internationally. Her works are part of several private collections in the United States, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and Italy. She has held three solo shows: in the auditorium of the Municipal Theatre of Montescudo (RN) in August, at Galleria Arte e Vacanze in Punta Marina di Ravenna (RA) in September 2019, and in the Priori Palace hall in Volterra in June 2023.

Laura’s works are in constant evolution toward an inexhaustible search for the meaning of human life events, the transformation they produce in our subconscious, and their memory, told and brought to the surface through subtly surreal and often symbolic contexts. Her genre is figurative, and her works speak through portraits of people who can be immersed in dreamlike landscapes or can speak and convey their true thoughts through the projection of their own shadow.

Her preferred medium is oil painting, sometimes substituted with pastel.

She collaborates with writer Nadezhda Giorgieva Slavova on the cover for her poetry book titled “Notturno,” released at the end of July 2015.

Her painting “Suggestions Temporali” was chosen in 2023 by writer Vanessa Albus/Volker Haase (Ed.) for the book “Philosophy of Autobiography at School and University.”

Selected, along with nine other contemporary artists, by the Marchionni Prize management to create a work specifically for the exhibition “Piacere Non sono Io” at the Civic Museum Ruzittu in Arzachena – Olbia, to be exhibited with great masters such as De Chirico, Magritte, Severini, and Sironi from April 21 to July 23, 2023.

Several awards since 2021: Finalist for the Marchionni Prize in 2021-2022-2023 (this year also winning the Traveling Exhibitions Prize) and finalist in 2024; Finalist for the Mestre painting prize in 2022 and in 2024 received a merit certificate from the same prize in the painting category; winner of the Prisma Art Prize for the second prize in 2021 – winner of the Cash Prize at Malamegi Art Rome 2023 – winner of the first prize in Painting at the competition “Where Is the Future” organized by the gallery “La Grande Bellezza” of Volterra in 2023 and in 2022 the 3rd prize in the competition “Where Is Love” – finalist in the painting section of the Marchionni Prize 2024.
