FIRST EDITION of this celebrated work on medicine and surgery written by the Dutch anatomist and surgeon Anton Nuck (also known as Antonius or Antonio Nuck, 1650–1692) and originally published posthumously in 1692. The text represents a fundamental compendium of seventeenth-century surgical practices and documents the clinical experiments conducted by the author, who was professor of medicine and surgery at the University of Leiden.

Frontispiece engraved on a full page by “Mulader.” Printer’s mark at the title page. 4 fine plates out of the text at the end of the volume depicting surgical instruments. Ex libris affixed to the first guard. Some sporadic minor stains. A copy in more than good conservation state, complete and usable.
