A highly distinctive Pryngeps Master vintage chronograph, powered by the respected Swiss Valjoux 7765 hand-wound mechanical movement.

With its approximately 40 mm case, this was a genuinely oversized chronograph for its period and still has excellent wrist presence today. The combination of the warm brown dial, gold-tone details, traditional pump pushers and mechanical chronograph movement gives the watch a strong late-20th-century sporting character.

The main attraction for collectors is unquestionably the movement. The Valjoux 7765 belongs to the famous 7750 family but uses traditional manual winding, making this a considerably less common alternative to the ubiquitous automatic Valjoux chronographs.

Case

The watch features a substantial approximately 40 mm case, excluding the crown, with an overall length of approximately 46 mm and thickness around 12 mm.

The gold-tone bezel, crown and chronograph pushers contrast elegantly with the case and give the watch a classic two-tone appearance.

Dial & Hands

The brown dial is one of the strongest visual features of this example. Its warm vintage colouring works particularly well with the gold-tone hands, applied details and external timing scale.

The layout is purpose-built around the Valjoux 7765 architecture, combining central chronograph seconds, small running seconds, chronograph minute recording and a date indication.

Despite its vintage character, the large case and bold dial architecture give it a surprisingly contemporary presence on the wrist.

Movement – Valjoux 7765

The Valjoux 7765 is particularly interesting from a collector's perspective. It is based on the architecture of the legendary Valjoux 7750 family, but instead of automatic winding it uses a traditional manually wound configuration.

It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, uses 17 jewels and offers approximately 50 hours of power reserve.

This movement is one of the key reasons this Pryngeps is more interesting than an ordinary vintage fashion chronograph: underneath the dial is a serious, established Swiss mechanical chronograph calibre.

Strap & Buckle

The watch is fitted with a leather strap and traditional pin buckle, complementing its vintage chronograph appearance.

Collector Appeal

This Pryngeps occupies an interesting niche for collectors who appreciate less obvious Swiss watches with important movements.

The watch is presented in very good vintage condition, showing only normal signs consistent with age and careful previous use.
